Eurolite in Las Vegas

The Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas is the biggest Electric Dance Music (EDM) Festival in the world. In 2014, more than 400 000 visitors from 40 countries came to the festival site in three nights. They were dazzled amongst others things by hundreds of Eurolite spotlights.

It is the mixture of music and light installations, which makes the EDC Las Vegas so unique. Featured in this year’s light installation were numerous Eurolite Audience Blinders with COB technology – they had their major performance on the main stage, the Kinetic Field.

Stage as high as seven storys

The field was dominated by the biggest stage ever constructed in the USA. On a width of more than 130 meters and more than seven storys, over 1000 light effects were mounted – among them more than 1000 square meters of only video panels. The Audience Blinders from Eurolite were spread all over the stage as warm white dots.

2.5 millions Watts for one stage

Steve Lieberman, responsible light designer of the “Kinetic Field”, relied on the power of 2.5 million Watts to make the main stage shine brutally bright this year. In comparison: The three stages at “Rock am Ring” had a power consumption of 650 000 Watts – altogether.

The LEDs around the main attractions were controlled by MADRIX Ultimate.

Seven stages were offered to the dance-crazed crowd – on three of them, Eurolite products were used; including hundreds of PMC-16, meanwhile regular EDC guests since last year.

Who’s Who of electronic music

In 2014, EDC took place for the fourth time in Las Vegas and attracted visitors from 40 countries into the gamblers’ city. The line-up read like a who’s who of electronic music: Show acts from Avicii and Afrojack to Carl Cox and Tiesto provided entertainment for the masses.

MADRIX® 3 Awarded Product Of The Year By Live Design

June 23rd, 2014 Posted in News, Press releases Tags: , ,

MADRIX® 3 has been named Product Of The Year 2013-2014 by Live Design in the category Lighting: Software/Control.

Live Design Award

Madrix awarded Live Design Award “Product of the Year”

MADRIX® 3 was released in 2013 to bring many enhancements over the previous software generation. Above all, the main focus of this modern LED control solution has always been the introduction of voxel mapping (pixel mapping for real 3D installations). From the beginning, the new software was designed to make spectacular 3D projects possible thanks to the user-friendly yet powerful tools given to designers and users alike.

As Live Design reports, this has also been the feature set that the judges would highlight. “Full 3D pixelmapping software—a very clever system in a compact package” as one judge describes it. Another juror adds: “It offers the ability to fully map in all three planes—x,y, and z. The level of complexity that can be programmed was previously not achievable with what was available in the market. This opens up a whole new world of LED programming and effects.”

The award is chosen every year in the three main categories of lighting, sound, and projection by a panel of acclaimed industry experts. The award ceremony was hosted on May 31, 2014 during the Live Design Broadway Master Classes at Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York. Sales Manager Christian Hertel and Head of Product Development Sebastian Wissmann attended the ceremony.

Our team is extremely honored to have received this prestigious award.”, Christian Hertel summarizes. “We are all very proud on what the team has achieved, also with the help of users and partners worldwide. It couldn’t be a better time to thank all of them for their support.”

MADRIX® 3.2 is currently the latest version of the LED lighting software controller adding a large number of new features. If you would like to learn more, please visit www.madrix.com

„Brilliant eye-catcher“

June 18th, 2014 Posted in FUTURELIGHT, Press releases Tags: , , ,

German trade press Soundcheck tested three Futurelight .i devices for their May issue. The result: The technology for unlimited movements as well as the devices themselves left no margin of doubt.

The editors tested an EYE-7, a PLB-130 and a DMH-75 with .i technology. These devices move without mechanical limits, meaning they can rotate endlessly in horizontal and vertical direction.

A very elaborate control“

What impressed the testers most of all was the control of the endless rotation: The Moving Heads can also be controlled normally, with limit. There’s an extra channel for the .i mode – the channel formerly responsible for the corresponding PAN or TILT motion now becomes the speed control channel. „A very elaborate application, that can not only be mastered with every console, but can also realize movements with small controllers, which have not been so easy to generate until now”.

Extremely high quality“

Even independent of the .i technology, the three test devices left a positive impression. „In the matter of workmanship, you can say that they really didn’t scrimp on any of the three devices. The housing, the connections and the inner parts are (…) of extremely high quality“.

Recommendations for mounting

Lastly, testers gave recommendations for mounting the endlessly rotating heads: „On show and music stages, especially when positioning the spots on the back truss, you need to rethink. The .i Moving Heads should be directed toward the front and not mounted overhead, as much of their effect would be lost this way“.

German trade press tested the Futurelight EYE-7 and EYE-7 Zoom. The result: The small Moving Heads leave a lasting impression.

The spots overwhelmed the testers of the magazine Soundcheck with their workmanship: “The workmanship is extremely sturdy and of high quality, making a very good impression”. But also the inner values, especially the brightness, stood out in the test: “Regarding brightness, the dwarf swells and delivers a really convincing performance”.
