Making cookies, a course through the warehouse, welding stars: On our kids’ day this year, there’s a lot to see and do. As every year, the kids can come to the company with their parents and have a day full of surprises as there’s no school today.

How digital controlling protocol works!

Every retailer is familiar with it, the standardized process to digitally send controlling information to dimmers, „intelligent“ spots or effect devices – DMX: But how exactly does it work and whose idea was it?

Digital data transmission has been around since the 80s. But controlling consolemanufacturers used differing systems, incompatible with each other, so the customer was forced to buy spots and controllers from the same producer. This changed in 1986 when the DMX standard was introduced, based on an initiative of the USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology). After some improvements were made and problems were solved, it was realized four years later. The common and still valid name of the standard is DMX-512 (1990). Even though some work has been done on it since then, there’s currently no newer version.

Miami, California, New York, Las Vegas: Eurolite took the USA in storm in the last months. Spots and lighting effects from Waldbüttelbrunn were used at a number of festivals:

345.000 visitors, over 35 millions US dollars of production costs (only for Las Vegas), the biggest stage ever built in the USA, more than two millions watts: The EDC is not only one of the biggest, but also one of the most extensive festivals of the USA.
In several stages, the festival moves from New York and Chicago to Las Vegas. In 2013, Eurolite came along with it from the east coast to the desert. In June, a Eurolite record was broken in Las Vegas: 430 Eurolite PMC-16 cluster were installed there.

On a total of 7 stages, numerous Audience Blinder 2 x 100 W LED COB 3200K and Eurolite STP-10 MKII were installed.

Coachella – Californian Desert

Famous bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers play there besides newcomer bands and attract masses of party people. In 2013, Eurolite equipped the festival with twenty 2 x 100 W COB Audience Blindern as well as over seventy Eurolite STP-10.

 

Ultra Music Festival – Miami

For the 15th anniversary, the festival was extended on two weekends in march – nevertheless, the sought-after tickets were sold out virtually immediately. Eurolite equipped the Carl-Cox-tent with numerous 2 x 100 W COB Audience Blindern at this festival.
