New design, new navigation, improved search function: The presentation of Steinigke’s redesigned online platform www.steinigke.com which has been presented at prolight+sound on April 7th is a benefit for all future visitors.

Managing Director Bernd Steinigke called it another important step to the future. The guests at the booth in Frankfurt applauded – the successful change of the shop system was celebrated. For good reason, since this ambitious project has required a bunch of commitment of all involved in the last 8 months.

The project had two main aims. On the one hand, the usability for users should be significantly improved. Through a horizontal layout of the navigation section, the extensive product description, the small number of paging and the simplified search function including an auto suggest function the usability has been optimized.

On the other hand, the technical alignment was in the focus of the new concept. The up-to-date platform is well-equipped to grow with the growing shift of the market to the online sector, so it is able to implement the steady and quick change of our time.

The new system is based on Oxid Enterprise Edition. To construct the Backend PHP 5.3, OpenSuse 11.3 and MySQL 5 have been used. Both for the web server and the database sever a redundant failover system is available.

Steinigke Showtechnic GmbH had been one of the first in this industry to start a self-developed online platform for their distributors in 2001. Therefore it took a leading position at eCommerce in the show industry. Since that day, the shop software grew and became bigger and bigger, so the maintenance grew as well. Now the old system has been retired after 10 years of reliable service. Responsible for the projects were: Steffen Hartmann (Head of Internet Development), Daniel Bergauer (Art Director), Alexander Hahn (Content Management/SEO) of Steinigke Showtechnic and the team of Mayflower GmbH, an external PHP service provider from Würzburg: Martin Brotzeller, Daniel Schlichtholz, Stefan Krenz
