Eurolite LED PAR-64 RGBA receives top grades in test

July 13th, 2010 Posted in EUROLITE Tags: , , ,

German magazine Soundcheck tested the new LED PAR-64 RGBA spot for its July issue – with best results.

With its new 10 mm LED spot Eurolite finds a remedy for the difficult output of warm colors of conventional LED spotlights. How? With amber colored LEDs in addition to the primary colors red, green and blue: “This creates an additional warm orange color”, the periodical mentions. Thereby, the spot provides “a broader range of colors looking more softly and naturally in the yellow and red spectrum”. Even the usually extreme color transition from red to green can be covered by this diode, the testers observe.
Besides harmonious color transitions, the fourth color has another advantage: “If we mix all colors to a white color, the amber diodes will create a cozy and warm white which is similar to incandescent lights”.

Apart from an outstanding color combination, the new spot offers further advantages compared to conventional devices. The controller persuades the Soundcheck team: “The small DIP switches were replaced by a full menu with display and buttons”. Thereby, the spots allow a considerably easier setting of DMX with more possibilities. For example, much more color mixtures can be adjusted directly at the device: “This is ideal for using the spot as static light without control”. But the spot also persuades the testers in stand-alone operation: There is a larger variety of stand-alone programs with sequences and color changes and they are easier to adjust,” the journal says.

The magazine also tested the matching LED operator 2. One of the especially positive things they noticed was the easy handling – “without any programming effort”: “The handling of the LED operator 2 is really easy and fast to learn – even for novice users”. A special benefit: the operator can control a smoke machine with two DMX channels (by pressing a button). The Soundcheck crew recommends the controller as an excellent “entry-level device”, which is applicable for stages as well as for bars or lounges.
A similar large variety of applications offers the Eurolite LED PAR-64 RGBA spot: “In fact, the spot can be applied wherever the former 300 watt parcan 56s have been used”. For example, by the recommendation of the testers, the spots is ideal for smaller stages and hobby musicians.

With its new RGBA series, Eurolite now offers spots with a warmer color temperature – similar to incandescent lights and their red colors. By adding the color amber, which is composed of red and yellow, the ordinary RGB color mixing can be “warmed up” individually with the fourth color. So it’s not surprising, that also the Soundcheck team was convinced of these advantages – and the RGBA spot passed the testing with top grades.

Eurolite KLS-800 achieves best results in magazine Soundcheck test

June 21st, 2010 Posted in EUROLITE Tags: , ,

”Extremely compact dimensions“, “Powerful light performance”, “Great color mixture”, that is what the testers have said about the KLS-800 from Eurolite. For its May issue, the magazine Soundcheck rigorously tested the new compact light system.

The KLS-800 combines the popular features of the KLS series with exceptional light performance – the testers verdict: “Easy to transport and fast to build up, that’s the basic idea of the Eurolite KLS “Kompakt-Licht-Systeme” (Compact Light Systems). The new KLS-800 features another advantage, it is equipped with innovative and powerful diodes.” Meant are the Tricolor LED chips. They guarantee a homogeneous color mixture. Even when looking directly into the spot the testers couldn’t see the original colors but a pure color mixture. Moreover, the KLS-800 persuades with extremely concentrated colors, a mixture of pure white and surprisingly high brightness.

Besides good results in color mixture and light intensity, the Soundcheck team was particularly impressed by the variety of control possibilities. The KLS-800 can be controlled by sound, foot switch or DMX. “It’s brilliant that foot switch and DMX can be combined,” the journal says. The special benefit: “This allows you to turn off the spots with the foot switch at the end of a song, choose the next program on the DMX controller and than reactivate the foot switch”.
Furthermore, the Soundcheck crew recommends using the Eurolite LED Operator 4 controller, as it is pre-programmed for the KLS series and provides quick and easy access.

The KLS series is a mobile lighting system offering space-saving and compact solutions for flexible yet high-quality stage lighting. The KLS-800 combines the popular amenities of the KLS series with outstanding illuminating power – thanks to the sophisticated Tricolor LED chips (TCL).
So it’s not surprising that it passed the rigorous testing of Soundcheck with flying colors.

EUROLITE LED KLS-800 – Ever increasing brightness!

February 23rd, 2010 Posted in EUROLITE Tags: , , , ,

kls800_.effectWith the LED KLS-800 TCL DMX, Eurolite presents the new top model from the revolutionary line of LED-Compact Light Sets. As light-weight as its predecessor, the same housing, but considerably brighter.

The KLS-800 is comprised out of four individual, flat and separately directional spots with seven Tricolor-LED-chips (TCL) each. Every TCL-chip is fitted with three LEDs having a rated power output of 1W each. Advantages of this multichip-technology enable a substantially more homogeneous color mixture than is possible with individually installed LEDs. By the way, the loss of light output through the integrated converging lens is negligible. The compact light set accommodates 28 TCL-chips, each having a 3 Watt power output. The achieved light output is comparable to a conventional spot-bar comprised of four PAR-56 in various colors.

The compact set really lives up to its name: the total weight of the LED KLS-800 including bar, TV pin, and the complete cabling is round about 9 kilograms and can be transported comfortably by a single person in the included carrier bag. Thanks to the low weight and the completely pre-fitted bar, installation is simple, even for the not so technically inclined. This makes the LED KLS-800 especially attractive for solo entertainers and other small performing groups with own equipment as well as for technical service providers with mobile discos and rentals.

Control can be carried out either via the optionally available foot switch with long connection cable or via any standard DMX-controller. The compact light set occupies 15 DMX channels. The Eurolite DMX LED Operator 4 is a specially developed controller, with which all functions can be easily accessed. This enables comprehensive use of the system without the tedious familiarization with the subject matter.

A further benefit of the LED KLS-800 is the very low power consumption, which lies at about 160 Watts. Hereby, as well as the minimal heat emission of the LEDs, it encourages use of the compact sets even in the smallest locations, without having the performer or the public to work up a sweat. Moreover, in contrast to its conventional prototypes, the LED KLS-800 does not promote annoying interference in the sound system, in case light and sound need to share an electrical circuit at an event location with limited power supplies. Facts which make the LED KLS-800 a real alternative to conventional spot-bars.

When EUROLITE brought the first compact LED light sets on the market in the summer of 2008, it produced a real sensation in the mobile event-technology sector. The revolutionary product range was quickly and consequently expanded by means of customer requests, so that meanwhile the user has six versions with varying configurations to choose from, including the top model LED KLS-800 TCL DMX. Several complete sets with stand enlarge this range even more.

The multichip technology is on the rise

51837870It has been a long way from the use of fire as a light source by mankind to the invention and use of electrical light. It took several thousand years before Thomas Edison finally made the first step into a mass market with his version of the light bulb. Yet since then development has progressed ever more rapidly and opportunities are almost limitless; to such an extent that the outdated Edison bulb is becoming slowly but surely obsolete.

The light of LEDs, however, will probably continue to glow for a very long time. Although the technique only emerged at the end of the past millennium progress achieved until now is tremendous. At first it was problematic to display different colors but now the spearhead of the development comes forward and presents LEDs that can display all RGB colors. The tri-color LEDs (TCL) or multichip
LEDs. What are the advantages compared to standard LEDs?

TCLs combine the three RGB components in one housing, so that a homogenous color emerges via one lens – an elegant color effect is the result. The multichip technology, which brings the LEDs closer together, provides homogenous color mixtures even with short distances. This is a problem for many effects employing standard LEDs.

Moreover, if a lighting effect is equipped with TCLs the color saturation is higher compared to an RGB LED effect. Even if the power consumption is actually lower. An example can easily demonstrate that. We assume that two lighting effects (RGB + TCL) are equipped with 90 LEDs each. In order to create the color red, 30 red LEDs light on the RGB effect. On the TCL effect, however, 90 LEDs will light red. It is not surprising that the color density is higher even if the power is lower, is it? TCL effects also go strong when fading colors. The outlines are sharp at all times and no erratic cone of light can be seen.

Of course TCLs do not make sense everywhere and the conventional LED has its right to exist. But the example of the multichip technology clearly shows how far the technique has progressed. And one thing is for sure: development has not come to an end yet.

B-20

Some lighting effects are meant to provide a stylish ambiente in lounges, bars and the like. And there are others designed to pump up the mood on dancefloors and smaller stages. Our EUROLITE LED B-20 is a worthy representative of the latter group. It comes equipped with four High-Power-LEDs (TCL). These ultrabright LEDs produce 30 beams simultaneously, which move quickly around the room. This is due to the fact, that the two beam-balls rotate around their own axis plus around the effect’s main axis. The rotation speed is adjustable via a rotary control, so everyone can find his or her own rhythm. Thanks to the multichip technology, the colors are rich and saturated and the color changes very elegant. So, if you’re looking for ample action and you value well-engineered, reliable technology at a pleasing price, then you’ll not need to look any further than the B-20.
